I had an extended warranty on a 9000, sold through Saab but furnished by an outside company. They went belly up, but because it was underwritten by an insurance company the policies were assigned to others. Here's the short form instruction when looking at aftermarket warranties:
1) make sure it's underwritten by a licensed insurance company, not a commercial company. Allstate and Zurich fit the bill. Don't know about "Fidelity". Do check the company's AM Best rating.
2) make sure it's an "exclusionary" policy: i.e., they list the things they *don't* cover, versus a "named risk" policy that names what is covered. Wouldn't it be a bitch to discover later that a "SID" is not considered to be a "dashboard instrument"?
3) Make sure the mileage and time limits conform pretty much to your use. Like leasing, the most expensive mile of coverage is the mile that isn't used.
