The auto tranny is pretty much bullet-proof. Only maintenance is performing fluid changes at recommended intervals.
Any car before the 2004 model year can potentially have engine sludge issues. The latest PCV system needs to be installed, the sump will need to be dropped to inspect for evidence of sludge, and the oil should be changed frequently using synthetic only. I recommend 5K mile oil change intervals and use of 5W/40 weight synthetic oil.
I recommend removing the coolant by-pass valve and replacing it with the MacKay Hose set used on non-ACC spec vehicles.
Follow the 60K miles Major Interval Maintenance schedule for all other items and you should be A-OK.
