Anyone install a second back-up light in a 06-09 Sedan? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 28 Feb 2012 16:36:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I was checking tire pressures in my '08 tonight when the retired lady across the street called out to me while she was getting her mail to let me know my new car had only one backup light illuminated the other morning.
I thanked her for telling me while my mind was racing and recalling posts about these cars only having one backup lamp. I told her there may only be one but I would definitely look into it. Meanwhile she came closer and noticed the lenses are different from side-to-side and there is no clear portion of the lens on the driver's side. Truthfully, I hadn't noticed that yet.
So then my wife dug thru the Owner's Manual and found that indeed the Sedans only have one backup lamp while the Wagons have two. I checked my EPC and found my suspicions were corrrect and RHD versions of the car have the lamps reversed, meaning LH lenses are available in the UK to accommodate a second backup lamp on a LHD car.
Has anyone done this? Is the socket and wiring in place? I know, if I wasn't so lazy I could dismantle the trunk fascia lamp housings and see for myself.
Thanks,
