Fresh fluids partially complete, but I need help Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 10 Mar 2012 10:23:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I changed the oil in my 2008 this morning even though the oil in the crankcase only had 1500 miles of use. I had no way of knowing what the selling Cadillac Dealer used for engine oil since the car does not have a Mobil-1 sticker(!) under the hood. They also installed a tiny PF53 filter rather than the official Saab filter or one of my beloved over-sized filters.
I used my garage Turkey Baster to remove the Power Steering fluid and replaced with fresh CHF-11s. The old stuff had a brownish/reddish color, smelled of ATF, and the reservoir seemed over-filled.
I tried to change out the DexCool and ran into problems. As inconvenient as access was the radiator petcock with the old battery location, the new battery location makes access impossible! How do you get to the valve?
It appears I "may" be able to remove the intercooler discharge hose to create a bigger hand-hole but the hose clamp is on the top side of this hose and not visible. Is this the easiest method?
I discovered the transmission funnel I purchased is not long enough and I need a hose style to reach the ATF fill port, and I still need to buy some DOT4 for the brakes (as well as warmer weather).
