In case you decide to replace it..... I found my switch by ordering it from CarQuest, their P/N 53-31881 (for 1998 thru 2001 models). Ordered it on a Thursday, it arrived on Monday. List was $320 but the local store gave me a 15% discount without asking. Even at $320 their price was lower than many other sources - most of whom (including the Dealers with internet parts counters) could not even order a switch for me!
I posted the Scribd sourced, fully illustrated, instruction set on the Saab World site a month ago when I replaced my switch.
I was planning to sell my car and didn't want the liability of a non-standard repair to a safety item. (Naturally I also didn't want to pay the high cost for this switch either, but sometimes your choices are limited by other factors.) Otherwise the permanent jumper proposed by John would have been the best "cost versus benefit" solution.
