If the loaner was a 4 Turbo than ya that SAAB will always be better than a 6, MPG wise.
Also depends on mileage, oil used, tires used, and size of wheels used and WAGON vs. SEDAN. Many variables and I'm glad you made it home in a SAAB no less.

Original sticker on our 4turbo aeros 9-5s stated 20-30 EPA MPG. Both manual. Automatics were 19-29 EPA MPG. Again, many variables. Oh, the weather as well plays a part. Just like when you gas up, the ideal temperature to do this is 60-75* Fahrenheit otherwise you're overpaying for gas...
