More bad stories than good with inexpensive DIC/IDM's Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 7 May 2012 15:58:57 In Reply to: $245 at partsgeek for the Standard UF577 with free ship, Bubba, Sun, 6 May 2012 19:08:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Everyone is in the same boat right no regarding ignition modules. the US warehouse is out of stock and new units from Europe (where parts are not a problem) cost ~$415 w/ shipping. SaabUSAParts has a few in stock at ~$465, eEuroparts has some at $500. I've had good luck ordering from Europe for a couple items, shipping requires 7 to 10 days on both orders.
Some buyers of the inexpensive units had them fail in as little as two weeks. Others are T5 units painted Black to look like T7 units and won't work right out of the box! Try doing a return or exchange with an anonymous internet company!
Recent posts by others sound as if the discount sources of authentic units, such as some CarQuest stores, has been bled dry.
I used to replace the inexpensive copper plugs on my 2000lpt every 10K miles, then I stretched it to 20K miles. Most people probably go closer to 60K with the coppers but at less than $8 for a set of four spark plugs why push them to failure?
