Ok, I checked it in neutral and nothing happens. It doesn't seem to be coming from the engine. Likely, the bad motor mounts were masking the problem before.
So, I'm guessing it's the transmission and it's happening when the car downshifts from first to neutral?
I'm assuming the transmission fluid was last done at the 60K major service. The car now has 72.5K miles on it. However, I only drive about 5K city miles per year, so that was probably over 2 years ago.
Perhaps I live with it until 75K miles and then have fluid changed or should I do something sooner? Could this mean my transmission is on the way out or is this common and I can ignore?
BTW, it's a 2001 Aero.
thanks!
