It seems to me that if we were really concerned about how our *bumpers* performed in a crash, then we'd still have those restorative foam bumpers like on the classic 900. Not only did they "bounce" back into shape after a minor impact, but there was no paint to get messed up.
Of course, most of us realize how hokey this sort of test really is. The real issue isn't how much it costs to fix a bumper, but how much is costs to fix *us* if we're injured in a crash.
