I could get the mirror to "appear" to take the remote, but couldn't get the final step. Mine had two different frequencies for the remote, tried both, still couldn't get. Genie tech support tried to step me through it, trying a couple of things not in the literature, still couldn't get it. Finally, I pulled the wireless keypad off the wall and used it, it took. Just something about the dual-frequency remotes...
