what the likely culprits are but jacking up the cart, wipoing down the engibe and watching with a light would go a long way, Unless the oil is somehow being thrown by the fan, it will go from high to low--much written here about the valve cover, that is high, and i think the mnain bearing is very low, so how would oil go up from there? I hit the transmission case a few years back and unsealed the seam between it and the clutch housing, lost much trnasmission oil and had to pay a lot to lift the whole unit, separater it, and re-seal it, and that oil, much heavier, went stright down. Also, with a filled crankcase, the car sitting for a day might tip you off by dropping a puddle.
Getting really dirty is your only option without a lift.
