I find running low octane gas really chops the balls off my '04 Aero. Compared to an LPT an Aero feels like it absolutely hauls butt.
Non-sport mode can make the car feel a bit "bargy," after all, it is part luxury sedan. Mine is an automatic (wah wahhhh). These transmissions are very well executed to deliver lots of power and torque. It took me some time to get just the right gas pedal methods for maximum power. Saab does a really good job of reducing it but there's still turbo lag there. I find that if I hit the has just hard enough that it downshifts, count to two or three, and really mash it the car FLIES while staying in that gear and piling on maximum boost.
For a quick easy feel for the car's power, pop it in sport mode, get to exactly 40 mph cruising speed, and just mash your foot into the gas pedal all the way to the floor. See what happens then. ;)
I've driven a couple LPT's and they are good for around town. They have less turbo lag because the turbo is smaller so there's seemingly more power for stop and go take-offs but they very quickly run out of oomph at higher RPM.
