every problem the car has is followed by a motor light, any dummiee,.. orr rr. dyi like myself can plug into the car get the code, then get online and run the code in Saabnets search on the 9-5 bb and guess what. problem solved. All the problems my car has I never have to post anything on the bb because question is answered just by searching the motor lite code.
the 900bb is quite a different animal. these cars are before us humans became smart and started coding everything. trying to solve a problem with out a code is like shooting a bulls eye target with the lights off, some times your dead on lots of times your why off.
now say your 9-5 isn't giving you a motor light which is very unlikely because that car is so sensitive if I were to yell at my 9-5 the motor light will come on.
being that solving the cars problem is with motor codes if you were to arrive at the 9-5 bb with out one guess what your answer to your question will be...
if you don't have one no one can help not even I because I don't know what the car dose anymore, if it back fires I don't know there's a problem until the motor lite comes on then Ill fix it.
the 9-5 is an incredible technological machine, and for someone to say the problem happens and no motor light comes on is very hard to believe.
I would suggest when your idling the car to remove your foot from the gas pedal fully because unbenounced to you your foot is twitching while waiting for the red light to turn green causing you to feel the surge your describing
