If all you needed was to get INTO the car, you can have a key cut to operate the doors. But it will NOT start the car if it is not a transponder or remote key which is programmed to the car.
YOU NEED A SECOND KEY CUT AND PROGRAMMED TO THE CAR!
If you lose the one you have now, you're into an expensive to very expensive process to replace the TWICE unit and key. Believe me, spending $125 or more on a spare key and getting it programmed to the car is cheap compared to the headache and cost of replacing the TWICE unit.
BTW - I strongly recommend having multiple spares...
