Be suspicious that you have an oil pressure problem. Normal oil pressure at 2,000 RPM, when the car is fully warmed up, is 30-40 PSI. The oil pressure sending sensor turns on the warning light when pressure drops below 6-8 PSI, way below what it should be.
There is an outside chance that the oil pressure sensor is the problem. If this is not the problem it could be sludge or something else.
Continuing to use the car runs the risk of ruining the engine.
