I haven't tried to get my wife to pump the brakes in at least 22 years. She only barely tolerates my Saab addiction, and normally refuses to participate in any significant maintenance activities. Hence, my use of a pressure bleeder. Seriously, though, it is so easy bleed the brakes once you have one, you wonder how you got along with out it. You don't have to watch the reservoir or anything else. You just fill up the bleeder, pump it up, then move from caliper to caliper. And, you can watch the tubing on the catch bottle for bubbles without coordinating your snow shovel/stick pedal holding contraption.
