Need more info: For the CEL, have you had the code pulled? What is leaking oil? What is needed on the exhaust system? How much for all the needed repairs?
That said, a couple different ways to think about this... what is the value of the car now in current condition vs. fixed up compared to the cost of the repairs? Personally, when looking at the repairs I need, (not including normal maintenance stuff) I divide the cost by the number of months since my last repair, and compare that to a "reasonable" car payment. So far in the last 5 years I think the highest I've put in is something like $135/mo... so I keep repairing.
On the exhaust system, I consider the muffler replacement normal maintenance (kinda like brakes, just something that has to be done on a regular, even if infrequent basis), so I would not necessarily count that. Other parts I would count.
The og9-5 was in production for ever so worse case on parts is there are lots of donor cars out there.
