Don't understand not getting all the oil (I'm doing this on an '04 9-5 Arc wagon). For starters, the oil pan has a slight dip/bulge at the rear where the plug is. To test this theory, I pulled the drain plug and allowed the oil to drain to a drip. I screwed in the Fumoto valve, and it immediately began to drip at the same rate, indicating that oil is NOT pooling due to the fumoto valve sticking further into the pan. If it were, the oil would have stopped dripping. After a few minutes, I then unscrewed the Fumoto valve, and there was no larger flow of oil, further confirming what I discovered when I first put it in: the Fumoto valve doesn't retain any oil in my SAAB that wouldn't come out by draining the normal way.
Also, I don't consider the slower draining an issue. By the time I have the old filter off, let that drip, put the new filter on, record the OCI in the manual, etc., it's drained. And as far as the theory of not leaving any old oil in the engine, there is ALWAYS old oil left in the engine.
