As a new Saab owner, I just had my 30 day checkup, and had door locks reprogrammed so all all 4 doors open when key is removed. Dealer told me he had to put in in European mode to do this. I asked if this caused any other problems. He said no. After reading these posts, I learned that I may have lost the "panic" feature (hold any remote button for 2 seconds). I just tested it. I have in fact lost panic mode. I think I can live with that. What bothers me is that it is so hard to find out this information.
Saab should publish a "Guide to Programming Your Saab" which outlines our options for all these customization features. It would lead to happier owners, and less hassle for everyone - even the dealers I think.

p.s.: I have read the document posted on this board which helps, but it is only an introduction, and not specific to any particular year and model. It is not enough.
