that's a really wide age range... Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Wed, 5 Dec 2012 11:06:45 In Reply to: 9-5 Buyers Guide, brent, Tue, 4 Dec 2012 18:33:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
is that because of price? you are spanning 3 major revisions...
1998-2001 was the first batch, imho the nicest looking, but as early cars, had some things they improved...
2002-2005 was the next batch aesthetically, integrating the grill a little more with the bumper... but 2004/05 were a little different under the hood, in particular a significant update to the PCV system. Also a newer SID came in for 2004 which doesn't seem to drop pixels like the older ones...
2006-2009 were the "dame edna" bunch, with all the improvements of 2004+ but with "different" cosmetics... I'm not a fan, but some do like them, and with the right colours, the effect can be more subdued. They are reliable though...
All of the aeros are 2.3L 4cyls... there were a few v6's as se/arc designation from about 2000-2003... whole different kettle of fish...
I own a 2004 arc - was the right balance for me. You will be looking harder if you want a wagon or a stick (or both!!)... finding a good one is more important than the specific year, but it can be easier depending on the year... anything pre-2006 is pretty much fully depreciated now...
that should get you started... search this bb for more info (eg sludge, pcv 6, rear suspension, sid pixels, serpentine belt, coolant bypass valve, cps, etc...)
