Rear brakes

I usually do brakes by taking off the caliper, but on the 2003 9-5 rear brakes there was no way to get the second pad in. I had to do it by removing a slide pin. The nice part is that it let me clean and lube the slide pins.
Probably the correct way to do the brakes.
I didn't have to remove the spring, just gently pried it away and then back on.
any comments? good or bad- I could use the experts advice on the right way to service brakes.
