1 piece blend door shaft??????

Anyone else find that their drivers side blend door shaft was one piece? After a horrible time trying to separate the outer and inner blend door shaft due to the usual broken off white stop lever, I discovered there was no “outer” and “inner” blend door shaft. In place of the outer and inner shafts was a one piece molded shaft. I ended up sawing the shaft in half with a hack saw blade to get it out. My first clue was when per the usual instructions I attempted to push/pry the inner shaft towards the blend door to separate the shafts- the flat of the blend door shaft was almost flush with the blend door leaving very little play- nowhere near enough to separate the two if there had been a two piece shaft. What I don’t get is that the shaft had the molded tang and all. Maybe there was a parts shortage and they molded one piece shafts as a stop gap. I've seen where others have broken the shaft trying to separate the inner and outer and I suspect sometimes it’s the same thing- a one piece shaft. The remainder of the sawed off blend door shaft fit the aftermarket replacement and reassembly went fine. 2002 9.5 linear.
