Hard 1-2 shifting when warmed up

I'm chasing a problem with occasional hard 1-2 and 2-1 shifts on my 2004 Aero automatic. It seems to occur most often when slowing down after a freeway speed run, but every now and then it occurs while crawling in traffic. Feels like "popping the clutch" in a manual car. The only consistent thing I note is that it only occurs when the car has been driven for a while (> 30 min) and everything is nice a warmed up.
Aero has 162K miles on the clock. Transmission fluid level is correct and color of the fluid is good (not burned), but the fluid has never been changed. Indy says they see more problems with transmission flushes than with leaving it alone unless fluid is burnt.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
