The suspension isn't going to get better, just softer, squishier and less enjoyable.

A new suspension makes a car feel like, well, new.

In 2008, at 155K and 12 years old I put a complete Sachs Sport Chassis on my '96 9000 CSE (springs, struts & shocks), along with SAS sway bars. Had my indy do it while I was on vacation. Cost about $1600 and was worth every penny. Then at 183K I did the clutch, shift linkage, lower engine and tranny mounts, and control arm bushings. Also not cheap, but between these two big cash infusions (done over 3 years) the car feels like it has 50K or 60K on it, not almost 200K.

If you plan on keeping a car a few more years these kinds of investments are worthwhile, IMHO.
If you dump the 9-5 now, what would you replace it with? What would that cost in monthly payments, taxes, insurance, etc? You may find that you do the work on the 9-5 and you'll want to keep it longer than another 50K. That seems like it's worth $1400 or so.
