iPhone integration with 9-5: which method and where?

I'm looking to integrate my iPhone with my 2005 9-5. This model is just old enough not to have an Aux or USB input. A wireless FM adapter won't work in our area, as there are too many radio stations. The options that I am looking at are either a wired FM modulator (http://www.isimplesolutions.com/universal-solutions-TranzIt-IS77.aspx) or the kit from Saab Aux (http://www.saabaux.com).
I would love to get some input as to which is better. Here's how I see it.
Wired FM modulator:
Pro: Better local support for installation. Only one plug which takes care of audio and charging.
Con: Need to install extra switch to turn on FM modulator. Audio quality slightly diminished due to bandwidth limitations of FM.
Saab Aux kit:
Pro: Potentially better sound as it goes through the unused CD changer input.
Con: Would have to do installation myself. (Could be a pro, since I know it will be done right. It's mainly a time issue, not a skill issue.) Will need two cables, one for 3.5mm jack, and a second to the lighter for charging.
One other issue that I could use some input on is where to put the cables. In my old car, I ran the wire from the head unit to my iPhone out through the storage compartment in the center console, and laid the iPhone on the center console in a cup holder so that it was out of eyesight, but within reach. The problem with doing this in the 9-5 is that there is so little free space that there is no good place to put the iPhone. I was wondering what you all have done in terms of where to put the iPhone (lighter mount, windshield mount, other?).
Thanks!
