I'm assuming you have a 2001 or earlier, since you mention the Texaco.
The 2000 OM specifies: Texaco Texamatic Dexron III (MINERAL OIL BASED).
From that, I would not use any synthetic in the transmission.
ANY "Dexron III" compatible, non-synthetic fluid will work. I've got two cases of Castrol Transmax DEX/MERC in my 9-5s trunk, waiting for me to get that round tuit and flush the trans.
Do NOT use "Dexron VI" compatible fluid, do NOT use "Type F", do NOT use "Import Multi-Vehicle" or "Mercon V" or anything that says "+4". Plain old Dexron III, like they've been making for 30 years is the right stuff.
