I replaced the antenna with the dummy antenna from eEuroparts on my 2003 wagon a few years back. The whole procedure took just under 45 minutes. I removed the various pieces of gray trim around the back opening, enough that I could just pull the rear section of the headliner down to get to the securing nut on the antenna. I found that the nut from the original antenna fit on the dummy antenna. I left the wires tucked up in over the headliner, the dealer had long since removed the Onstar gear in the side compartment of the trunk.
Be careful of some of the plastic trim, the edges are sharp. Hopefully it's warm where you are or you have a heated garage to work in, you don't want the plastic parts to be brittle from the cold.
At one time there was member who had some photos of the procedure in his photo gallery, you might do a search for that.
Good luck!
