Negative ground systems can be really funky. I tow trailers a lot with an F-150 and once every time I signaled a left turn with the cruise on the cruise would shut off. Turned out to be a bulb socket ground connection on the trailer. I've had left turns light the right trailer bulb or both bulbs or no bulbs which seems impossible given the circuits were wired correctly- all poor ground contact or on custom trailers even where the ground points are physically located on the vehicle and/or the trailer frame.
I also had an older Porsche that lost the transmission ground strap. Sometimes it would crank, sometimes not and at night the light bulbs had a mind of their own flaring up and down util I reconnected the broken ground. Age really plays havoc with negative ground systems.
