T55 Torx bit required to remove top side plug Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 24 Mar 2013 15:37:34 In Reply to: 2007 Transmission Fluid Flush Procedure?, Wisaabi, Sun, 24 Mar 2013 12:37:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The plug can be a real bugger to remove, compounded by difficult access and angle. Before John Myers disappeared from these boards he posted that he always removes the battery and battery tray to get easier access and maximum effort on this sometimes stubborn plug.
This was after I had the local Dealership do the fluid change for me.
The fluid is Full whan it is 2 inches below the top of this plug opening. The fluid is Low when it is 2-1/2 inches below the top of this opening. Saab sells a special tool for this purpose. I recommend measuring the amount of fluid you drain out of the transmission (I bought an inexpensive graduated one gallon plastic pitcher at a Dollar Store) and re-fill with the same amount, then measure fluid level in the tranny.
