I replaced my OEM Pirellis on my 2010 9-3 SS with Michelin MXM4s. Great tire for my needs. Smooth and quiet, etc. I got a screaming deal on them in Feb 2012 and stuck them in the garage for six months before installation: $118/corner plus a $70 rebate through Tirerack. They're pricier now.

For you, since price is one of your criteria, I'd bag the Michelins and focus on other quality tires. And I'd probably stick with an H-rated tire with a minimum load factor of 93, and I'd avoid the ultra-high performance tires due to the inherent harsh ride.

There's a new Dunlop for $96 with a 65K mile warranty (677 miles/$), the Pirelli P6 for $87 after rebate with a 45K mile warranty (517 miles/$), the General Altimax for $91.50 after rebate with a 55K mile warranty, the Kumho LX Platinum for $94.50 after rebate with a 60K mile warranty (635 miles/$ -- and includes road hazard), and the Bidgestone Ecopia for $90.50 after rebate with a 65K mile warranty (718 miles/$).

The best 'value' is the Bridgestone, followed by the new Dunlop, and then the Kumho.

I included the P6 because it became an OEM tire for SAABs a few years back. I didn't include Contis but they're excellent tires too.

It all comes down to how you drive. I installed some Kumho Ecsta 4X on my 2006 9-3 SC but I haven't really cared for them. Dirt cheap when I got them but too harsh a ride, and slip starting out on a wet street.
