My son's new to him 2001 wagon [66,000 miles one owner] has a consistant rear brake light failure light. The LED 3rd brake light is fine. We changed bulbs to the recommended 21/9 wattage. Put in sylvania bulbs. Everything is bright and works well back there, but we still get the light warning.
1. Check grounds?
2. Is there a tech 2 test or workaround?
3. Should I add a resistor to fool the computer into thinking there is a bigger load?
4. can we bypass this test somehow?
