Try an electronic detector Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Mon, 3 Jun 2013 11:14:19 In Reply to: Ac refrigerant, Ziller, Mon, 3 Jun 2013 07:12:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
An electronic leak detector can be very helpful in finding leaks, it can "sniff" in places that you can't see with a blacklight. As others have pointed out the Schrader valves are certainly prime suspects. The next suspect would be hoses, particularly where they are crimped onto the fittings.
Another potential problem is that if moisture gets into the system it can form acidic compounds in combination with the R134a refrigerant, eating small holes in metal parts such as the condenser and evaporator.
