I am confused and perhaps a fellow enthusiast can clarify. I purchased a TB from one of the site sponsers. It came with 1 or 2 orings and one flat plastic gasket. The o-ings fit the top of the throttle body to seal the surface between the intake pipe and throttle body (2005 9-5 Arc). The flat gasket was too small a diameter to fit the machined grove in the bottom of the throttle body where it mates with the intake manifold. A "spare" I bought from the site sponsor was identical - did not fit. The pre-existing 0-ring was a large o-ring that fit somewhat into the wider machined groove on the bottom of the throttle body but it seems a large circular yet flat gasket is what is required. The pre-existing o-ring was a bit too large but fit and stayed in the bottom TB groove so I had no choice but to re-use it since it was larger than any o-ring in my shade mechanic kit. I believe the proper ID of the ring should be 2 1/2 inches but I don't have the slip of paper I wrote it on right now. I think that the TB to intake manifold gasket may have changed for 2004 up but can't confirm. The part number of the new unit was the same as the existing but the new one was made in Rumania rather than Germany.I will be shopping for some larger o-rings in case I have to clean it in the future. So the question of the day is - Is there a larger round gasket to fit the machined lower goove on a 2005 9-5 Arc TB. If so, what is the source?
Symptom driving replacement was surging at variety of speeds. No CEL. I did clean it once and it seemed to help for a few months but wanted peace of mind when it cropped up again. Seems like a common problem. Vehicle has 150,000 km - approx 95,000 miles.New TB seems to be working great but I broke the round white PCV valve at the valve cover - they get very brittle. Does anyone have a source for these german made mini one-way valves? The replacement SAAB part comes with a small length of hose where it enter's the TB and is quite expensive - about $30.
