Does this happen only when it's wet out? In my case I was getting crazy temperature readings so I examened the sensor where the 2 wires enter the unit. There was a gap in the insulation on both wires, exposing the bare conductors. Sonow and/or rain was getting in and shorting it out. I used compressed air to blow out the moisture and than sealed it up with silicone. Problem solved.
