Yes, you can buy the bare bulb with no green cap or light guide. I am pretty sure I got the bulb number from the FixMySaab website but the site is not working correctly as I type this.
Stripping the old lamp free of the green cap and light lens, so these can be reused, is not easy but it sure saves a bunch of money! Plus, I believe the bare bulb is readily available at most auto parts stores.
I grabbed the photo below from an old post on another site. A third site identified the bulb as a 1.2 watt lamp.
