May be a Speed Rating issue Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 3 Aug 2013 06:48:41 In Reply to: Re: Winter tires, Slug [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 3 Aug 2013 06:38:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The tires which grip best on ice and snow often have a Q Speed rating. My experience has been that the Q rated tires are squirrely on cleared and dry expressways where traffic speeds approach that of summer.
H-Rated winter tires are great at speed but sacrifice a lot in Ice and Snow traction.
I have found T-rated winter tires as the best compromise between Ice & Snow traction and Expressway speeds for my driving needs.
These results were all with a variety of P195/15 winter tires on my 2000.
