Springs inside ignition cylinder - how to reassemble? Posted by Navid [Email] (#2069) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Navid) on Mon, 2 Sep 2013 17:54:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi there,
So i took apart the ignition cylinder and the outer housing. I lubricated the latch near the top, but as I was putting it back the spring uncoiled and bent and so that spring is gone. Then, when reinserting the cylinder back into the housing I put the "steel pin" and its' spring back in first, and this spring got bent out of shape too.
Then end result is that there is no "pop" up at all of the ignition when it goes back to the off position - resulting in the old problem of the car thinking the key is still inserted (and the ding ding ding of the chime that goes along with that)
Here are my questions for you Saab key experts
1) Can I buy these springs independently?
2) If I do, my main question is do i insert the cylinder back in and then put the spring and pin - ie my mistake was seating the pin and spring first causing the spring to get twisted? Was that my mistake?
