Ok, I too went out and took a look. The hinges are strange but there are some possibilities. First of all bolt holes, especially for multiple bolt patterns are often larger than the bolts. Even if there isn't a slot, it might be possible to loosen the bolts between the hinges and the body and get some movement, then retighten to clamp it into the new position. Second, on my 2000 Aero, there appears to be a gap between the two metal plates that the fore and aft "bolts" connect. This indicates that there may be a shim in there, changes in shim size would move the door fore or aft and the rear of the door up and down. Even if it isn't currently shimmed, it could be. A new shim would move the door back slightly but less so than the amount of up/down movement.

The fore and aft bolts of the hinge are strange anyway, appearing to be a stud with a nut on both sides, the forward nut appearing to be some type of self-locking unit. I haven't figure how adjustment could be built into this setup but can't figure out why two nuts either unless some trick is involved.
