We bought our '07 Aero SportCombi new, it now has 81,000 mi. It hasn't been trouble free, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. With the exception of a DIC at about 78,000 mi, all issues were under warranty and haven't been repeated. Our Saab mechanic says that it should go 300K if you do the maintenance. Parts don't seem to be an issue.
It's done 34mpg on a long trip - plan on 31/32. In town it get 19-22. For useable room1it's great - we using for camping with our two boys instead of wife's Jeep Liberty. Mount a Thule box and you have more room than you should ever need, and you can access that box from the ground due to its low roof height. Works great for car topping a canoe too.
It's not the quietest, fastest, best handling, or best riding car around - but it's the best balance of those that I've found all while offering great utility. Style wise, it still gets complimented regularly.
Downside? It's low. Snowplows earlier than my '02 9-3SE. No curb climbing. Dirt roads and parking lot/road transitions are little more nerve wracking. Non-Aero buys you a cm of clearance.
If you like how it drives, and its style, there's nothing there that should scare you away. It's a classy car that works great for a family of four and remains fun to drive.
