The more performance-oriented the tires are, the stiffer the steering is going to be. My snow tires with softer and taller sidewalls have a much more squishy feel and the rubber has more give to it for an easier turn of the steering wheel. My summer performance tires have very stiff, short sidewalls and require much more muscle (relatively) to turn the wheel. They're also much more willing to fight back to straight, and they follow grooves in the road. Going through an intersection where grooves are the worst from sitting traffic, my wheels will suck me right into those grooves like a train track.
