Hi All,
I recently started a message thread asking tire suggestions. I ended up getting a set of for Michelin Primacy MXM4's at Sears. Thanks to everyone for suggestions. Strangely the Sears price was less than tire rack.
While doing the alignment they said that I need to replace a front camber bolt and do some shims to the rear. The shims they can't do as they don't know which ones would be needed but they wanted to do the camber bolt for around $75. I declined. They printed out the paperwork that showed this -
FRONT RIGHT
Specified Range: -1.3° to -0.3°
Actual: -1.4°
REAR RIGHT
Specified Range: -1.1° to -0.6°
Actual: -1.2°
Is being out of range 1/10th of a degree something I should be worried about? Also, if I should get the shims and bolt done, what do you think is a reasonable price?
On the drive home I noticed the steering wheel was pointed to the right so I called and said I would bring the car back the next day for them to fix that issue. The next morning the left rear tire sensor came on saying low pressure. Took it back to Sears and they said the pressure was not low and reset the sensor but didn't want to replace it. Had a bit of an argument telling them there was no problem with the sensor before they did the work. I'll see what it says today. They realigned and the steering wheel is straight but they guy that did the alignment stated something about the reason that it was crooked was because of the camber bolt and indicated that now that the wheel is fixed that the tires will wear worse. Can anyone explain that to me?
Thanks for any help.
