They help more when you are towing, and a little when heavily loaded
They should be less prone to warping, being much thicker and made from parallel plates joined by the fins.
I say less prone, not immune, on account of my worst ever brake experience with a Zimmerman rotor that somehow would expand unevenly with heat. Measure the rotor when cold and it was in spec. First stop of the day - smooth as silk. After that, hold onto your fillings! But that's another topic...
