I had already coated the locking screw with anti-sieze, and since I pushed the screw into the wrong hole I knew the coating would drag on the screw as it was being retracted. Plus, the rotor and hub are both ferrous and would magnetize too.
Maybe use of a magnet would have been easier. I hope I don't have to find out in the future.
