Strange Cabin Fan Problem Posted by Savary [Email] (#1273) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Savary) on Wed, 8 Jan 2014 12:27:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So the ACC cabin fan doesn't work on our 2003 9-5, 125k miles.
Same thing happened in our other 9-5 about 3 years ago and I replaced the fan and that fixed the problem.
So I got a used fan from a 2008 for $60 and installed it.
I plugged it in and watched through the windshield to make sure it was working.
The new fan would only start rotating when the 'switch' was on 3 bars, see picture. (it ran fine above 3 bars)
I thought that was strange so I plugged in the old fan and it ran at 1 bar, and worked fine.
(on the new/used fan, there was noticeably more resistance when you turn the cage by hand)
So I decided to put the original fan back in because it was working now.
After I buttoned everything back up I made sure the fan was still working at all speeds.
Everything seemed ok, the fan worked and changed speed as commanded.
But the next morning the original symptoms persist. The fan doesn't blow.
Any ideas?
There are no ACC codes.
Thanks
