We did the by-pass valve removal on my son's 2004 Aero wagon last weekend. This trick of cutting the hoses off at the firewall and then removing the clamps and remains of the hose is a great one. Saves lots of time even if you have a remote hose clamp tool.
We replaced the radiator and all hoses but the heater bypass stuff a couple of weeks ago. Radiator plastic tank just blew off the driver side!!
So we decided not to remove the non leaking by-pass valve and plumbing even though we had the hose set on hand. Wouldn't you know that after replacing the radiator and EVERY bit of rubber in the colling system the by pass valve circuit leaked when we were done!!!
Actually it was hard to see if the valve was leaking at the O ring, but when we put in the new $22 hose from eEuro the leak went away. That by pass circuit is a joke!!! and a curse.
Thanks Swedecar for the tip....it is a good one. Saved us a lot of time.
