While SAAB's idea of using long studs is a good idea in theory, the practical benefit is minimal and these are the only ones that normally break. Of course if you need a long stud to connect something like a heat shield then you must use one.
I've already replaced two exhaust studs on my 9000, used Dorman M8 studs, stainless lock washers and brass nuts that I bought at the local auto parts store.
