Brake booster replaced - now brakes are sticking

My brake booster wasn't working so I replaced it with a Cardone reman unit from Rock Auto. The new booster appears identical to the old and certainly solved the initial issue, but now I'm having an issue with the brakes sticking.
I made sure to measure and adjust the length of the input rod prior to installation. Pedal feel initially seems correct - a bit of travel before the brakes start to really engage. After driving a bit (a mile or so) the pedal comes up to the top of the travel and the brakes begin to stick. Disconnecting the vacuum line doesn't release them, but loosening the master cylinder from the booster does.
After reassembly the brakes were free (could easily roll the car in neutral by hand). I found one thread that mentions a similar problem and indicates a bad booster as the issue, but this is a brand new booster. At this point my only thought is that I could have gotten a bad booster.
Anyone had a similar issue?
