Depends on the year of your Saab. I have an '04 and the instructions in the car's manual worked fine for my twelve year old Genie screw-drive; but then it died and I installed a LiftMaster just this past winter. The instructions from Chamberlain (Liftmaster) state that if your car is an '06 or older you need a "repeater" at a cost of an additional $40 or so. I tried the instructions in the Saab manual and of course they didn't work; you most likely need the "repeater". Go to the Liftmaster web site or talk to your local dealer.
There's also something called the MyQ system that links via Cat5 cable into your home router and enables your smartphone to check on and control the garage door from anywhere you've got cel phone reception. The kit for MyQ is also extra money even though the Door Opener is wired and set up for it.
