Well actually fashioned a piece of metal with a slot in it and got the petcock undone - but had to remove the battery and tray.
So changing from dexcool to normal green stuff - decided to flush it with prestone chemicals - put the battery back in filled the system with water and idled it - but no heat. Took the car for a 15 minute cruise - going up hills still no heat. I do want the flush to circulate thru the heater core - should I drive the car up on ramps to make it burp?
Also I've posted that I will regap standard plugs as many as 3 times and get 35k or more miles on them - but car seemed to be less responsive so took the current plugs out - center electrode was getting low, fortunately had a set of old ones from my 1999 9-5 and put them into the 2004 and all is good with acceleration.
So I'll get the car up on the Rhinos tomorrow and see if I can get the air out. All in all not the easiest cooling system to service.
