Correct on the Code 8 -- search the board and you will find a ton of information about repairing the broken arm / shaft.
I seem to recall that Code 19 refers to a recirculation pump that is on the V6 models and permits coolant to circulate when the car is off and an auxiliary heater is activated. If this code appears on a 4 cyl model (which I think yours is) it is sometimes an indication that the ACC thinks it is installed in a V6 and it is looking for a pump that doesn't exist. I think that using a Tech II the ACC can be told what model car it is installed in, and get rid of that code. Google Saab 9-5 ACC Code 19 and you'll get a bunch of hits on a variety of sites that may shed more light.
I agree that it probably has nothing to do with compressor function.
